Body Sculpting

Stubborn fat is something that many people deal with, especially as they age. It is common for people to develop pockets of fat in their abdominal area, on the arms, under the chin, and in many other areas. These areas are often genetic, and many people find that they don’t go away even when they lose weight.

Body sculpting is a non-invasive way to target unwanted fat, tone muscles, tighten skin and more to help you attain a more contoured shape. At Southwest Michigan Plastic and Hand Surgery in Portage, MI, we use our body sculpting services to sculpt your body into a more balanced shape while taking into account your own unique beauty. We have several different options all of which can be very effective for a variety of circumstances.

What Is Body Sculpting?

Body sculpting is a treatment that is used to reshape a certain area of your body. These treatments can be an alternative to surgical treatments if a patient is looking for a less invasive option. Through fat reduction, skin tightening, and muscle toning using a non-invasive platform, we can slim and sculpt areas without pain or downtime.

What Type of Body Sculpting Is Available?

At our clinic we offer a system called EvolveX which is a combination treatment that can provide fat burning, skin tightening, and muscle toning all in one platform. EvolveX incorporates different technologies using three different modalities which all work together.

  • Tite: The Tite modality uses radiofrequency energy to heat the skin and underlying tissues, stimulating collagen production and tightening the skin. This modality improves overall skin texture and appearance and can also reduce cellulite.
  • Tone: The Tone modality uses electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) to tone and tighten the muscles in the treatment area. Each contraction is much stronger than normal exercises and can more quickly improve muscle tone.
  • Transform: The Trim modality uses bipolar radiofrequency energy and EMS to destroy fat cells and regenerate muscle fibers. During treatment, fat cells are heated to a specific temperature, causing them to break down and be eliminated by the body over time. EMS technology strengthens and tones muscles.

Examining the Effectiveness of Body Sculpting

While EvolveX treatments and other body sculpting treatments can be very effective at toning and shaping the body, the effectiveness of these treatments can vary from patient to patient. We will look at several factors that may impact the effectiveness of body sculpting treatments.

A Patient’s Candidacy for Body Sculpting

Non-surgical body sculpting is a body fat reduction treatment rather than a weight loss treatment. The EvolveX platform and other similar devices are most effective for patients who are at or near their ideal BMI. We see the best results from patients who have already lost weight but want to reduce stubborn bulges, tighten loose skin after weight loss, and achieve muscle definition.

The Patient’s Treatment Plan

Every patient needs a unique body contouring treatment plan that will cater to their specific needs. Some patients may need to come in for several sessions before seeing the full results that they desire. Fat reduction and muscle strengthening can take six or more sessions to produce effective results. You will work with us to determine the most effective plan for you.

Lifestyle Following Treatments

If you are trying to reach a specific goal, body sculpting can give you a boost to get you to the shape and strength that you want. However, it is important to still focus on maintaining a healthy lifestyle after your treatment. The best results are often seen in patients who keep to a regular exercising routine and who live a healthy lifestyle after treatments.

Amount of Skin Elasticity

Some patients have skin that is more elastic and healthy while others have skin laxity as a result of aging or damaged skin due to stretch marks. The results of your body sculpting treatment may depend on the amount of skin elasticity that you have. However, as a skin tightening treatment, our body contouring can resolve many different concerns such as stretch marks or loose skin.

How to Maintain Your Body Sculpting Results

During our body contouring sessions, fat cells are permanently destroyed and flushed out of the body. However, remaining fat cells can become larger with weight gain over time which can lead to the return of stubborn bulges in treatment areas even after body fat reduction. Muscle tone can also decrease with lack of use which can lead to the decrease of your results over time. We recommend making a plan for maintaining your body sculpting results.

For many people, EvolveX treatments are enough to motivate them into a more regular exercise routine to maintain results. Other people choose to supplement their healthy lifestyle with regular maintenance treatments using our body sculpting services. Both of these are good options and will help you keep your abdomen, buttocks, thighs, and arms slim and shapely.
